    Yours Everlong by Melodie Yvonne

How do I tell you that you’re going to lose me
When you’re the only one that never abused me
How do I tell you that soon I’ll be gone
When you’re the only one that never did me wrong

I’ve tried and I’ve tried to give you this warning
I’ve tried and I’ve tried to warn you evil’s swarming
But all I’ve been doing is failing this mission
I just don’t know how to make you stop and listen

How do I tell you that you’re going to lose me
When you’re the only one that never abused me
How do I tell you that soon I’ll be gone
When you’re the only one that never did me wrong

I’ll tell you my truth there’s no in between my lines
My feelings for you are written all over my eyes
But as much as I want to I can’t stay here with you
My path is so narrow and you’re still hauling two

I wish I could stay with you right by your side
See my heart is all yours and I got nothing to hide
I gutted myself and showed you my insides
But it’s just not enough to match all of those lies

How do I tell you that you’re going to lose me
When you’re the only one that never abused me
How do I tell you that soon I’ll be gone
When you’re the only one that never did me wrong

How do I tell you that you’re going to lose me
When you’re the only one that never abused me
How do I tell you that soon I’ll be gone
When you’re the only one that never did me wrong

Oh how do I tell you that soon I’ll be gone
When my heart will be yours truly everlong

    Boomerang by Melodie Yvonne

You’re a dirty coyote that needs kept on a leash
All of that power needs kept out of reach
But just to escape you’d chew off your leg
Then duct tape it on to drag me to my grave

You’re Pinhead and Freddy without as much charm
We both better pray you don’t do any harm
‘Cause I see that boomerang coming back at you
From a hand in the sky that’s about to beget you

Please walk away before this gets really nasty
Or I’ll find you help if only you’ll ask me
But never look back and say I didn’t warn you
When all of your karma finally comes back to swarm you

You’re Pinhead and Freddy without as much charm
We both better pray you don’t do any harm
‘Cause I see that boomerang coming back at you
From a hand in the sky that’s about to beget you.

    Hurry by Melodie Yvonne

My life is marked with hurry and it’s causin’ me much trouble
My idle hands are the devil’s toys, and busy keeps me humble
But if I don’t give time to God I still will end up losin’
This fine line I gotta walk can be so fickle and confusin’

It’s only by the grace of God I’m not a raging pride-atic
See three’s the magic number it’s as easy as arithmetic
My Father, Son, and Holy Ghost they keep me humble when I’m sick
They dress me in a crown of thorns that shields like devil’s walking stick

My life is marked with hurry and it’s causin’ me much trouble
My idle hands are the devil’s toys, and busy keeps me humble
But if I don’t give time to God I still will end up losin’
This fine line I gotta walk can be so fickle and confusin’

Now how will I keep all this up, but rid myself of hurry
When I was young the path was clear but now it’s gotten blurry
I need to get back to my roots and trust the Lord above
But it’s hard for me to just let go and let in all his love

My life is marked with hurry and it’s causin’ me much trouble
My idle hands are the devil’s toys, and busy keeps me humble
But if I don’t give time to God I still will end up losin’
This fine line I gotta walk can be so fickle and confusin’

  • All for You

All for You by Melodie Yvonne

We were taught here from a young age
How the Lord wants us to behave
    But not how to
We were taught here from a young age
Not to make the messes we made
    But not how to
    No, not how to

All this worry and anxiety that seems to plague our society’s not our burden
And that’s for certain, it’s all for you
This world’s rage that’s uncontrolled tryin’ to seep down in our souls it’s all for you
    Let it pass through
    It’s all for you

So we sit in messes we’ve made
Tryin’ to clean up from our young age
    But what to do
We keep listenin’ to that whisperin’
And we just keep forgettin’ that
    It’s not you
    No, it’s not you

‘Cause the you that’s in our soul
Tries to guide us where to go
But we’re scared to, Oh we’re scared too
It’s just so hard to keep rememberin’
That we deserve to be a winner and
    Just let you
Oh why can’t we let you?

‘Cause all this worry and anxiety that seems to plague our society’s not our burden
And that’s for certain, it’s all for you
This world’s rage that’s uncontrolled tryin’ to seep down in our souls it’s all for you
    Let it pass through
    It’s all for you

    Kin by Melodie Yvonne

I see through you and the things you do I see your evil brimming
I see those sins all eat your soul and see that darkness winning
I see you hide behind your charm, your lies are pretty good
But I’m not just lil red now, I’m a sheep wearin’ werewolf’s clothes

You hide behind your faces like a chameleon in a rainbow
You’re swallowed by your pride, and just won’t see the things that I know
But rest assured you’re getting lured like lambs into a slaughter
You don’t wanna feel the pain you’ll feel when you mess with our Father

I see through you and the things you do I see your evil brimming
I see those sins all eat your soul and see that darkness winning
I see you hide behind your charm, your lies are pretty good
But I’m not just lil red now, I’m a sheep wearin’ werewolf’s clothes

It’s not too late to save you, and it’s not too late to fix this
I don’t like bein’ right, and I don’t claim to know your business
But know that I’m his servant and his ever-loving daughter
And if you’re messin’ with my kinfolk I’m not afraid to be a martyr

I see through you and the things you do I see your evil brimming
I see those sins all eat your soul and see that darkness winning
I see you hide behind your charm, your lies are pretty good
But I’m not just lil red now, I’m a sheep wearin’ werewolf’s clothes

No, I’m not just lil red now

    I’m a sheep wearin’ werewolf’s clothes.

    Dedicated to Shannon Hoon ❤ ❤ ❤

Every day you remind me of what you could have been
The little trinkets you leave us full of love you send
A dollar here a dollar there and everything we want
But all we really want is you right back here in our hearts

We close our eyes and see your face look back at us each day
But we don’t wanna make it go, we wanna make it stay

We close our eyes and try to make it all stay
We close our eyes and try to make it all stay
We close our eyes and try to make it all stay

Every day you remind us of what you could have been
Our heads all full of cavities are trying not to sin
But every day that flies by you get further out of reach
And we just wanna have you here with us with all our souls to keep

We close our eyes and see your face look back at us each day
But we don’t wanna make it go, we wanna make it stay

We close our eyes and try to make it all stay
We close our eyes and try to make it all stay
We close our eyes and try to make it all stay

  • My Weird Eyes

My Weird Eyes by Melodie Yvonne

The brightness it frightens me most everyday
‘Cause my weird eyes they work in mysterious ways
And sometimes it hurts so bad I’d gouge them out
    But I can’t cause then I can’t see what you’re about.

See my weird eyes they work in mysterious ways
But I’ll never tell you the things they might say
And I’ll see all your follies but you won’t see mine
I’ve just been at this longer than you’ve had the time

And yeah sometimes it hurts so bad I’d gouge them out
But I’ll never betray to you what I’m about
Just remember I see when you can’t see yourself
So don’t hide yourself from me like everyone else

The brightness it frightens me most everyday
‘Cause my weird eyes they work in mysterious ways
And sometimes it hurts so bad I’d gouge them out
    But I can’t cause then I can’t see what you’re about

    No I can’t cause then I can’t see what you’re about.

  • Oh Nope It’s Gone

Originally published online June 28, 2018 & in the collection Photographic Memories: Deux Mille Dix-Huit — available here

Oh Nope It’s Gone by Melodie Yvonne

Why should I be sad that, oh nope it’s gone
Because it happens all the time and it doesn’t last long
If I just take a minute to try to stop and listen
I’d think of something else to replace my words that’s missin’

I’d think of words that’s better and maybe somethin’ more
I’d think of words to make you love me and what you adore
I’d think of words that pick you up and sweep you off your feet
And be the everything you want and everything you need

So why should I be sad when, oh nope it’s gone
‘Cause if you left me then I guess you didn’t love me very long
But I’ll just keep on missin’ you for every single day
Until I find those words again to try to make you stay

    Mongoose by Melodie Yvonne

I see you washed in evil
I see you bathed in blood
You spilled it from the innocent
    While killing all they loved

I see your old sin nature
All dark black ink like mine
But you walk yours right out on a leash
    A caricature of your mind

I see your sheep like clothing
You think will hide your soul
But it’s the emperor’s new clothes to me
You can’t hide what I know

I see you wash in evil
I see you bathe in blood
But I’ll chop off my own head first
You won’t kill the things I love.

  • Sorry, Not Sorry

Originally published online May 12, 2018 & in the collection Photographic Memories: Deux Mille Dix-Huit — available here

Sorry, Not Sorry by Melodie Yvonne

Sometimes I’m sorry is just for yourself
Sometimes I’m sorry don’t help no one else
So before you apologize just stop and think
Is this to help them, or relieve my own stink?

Ask yourself if these words will help your friend
Ask yourself why you are making amends
Is it for love that you’re telling this person
Or is it just guilt, ‘cause that shit is your burden

Remember to think before you say I’m sorry
It isn’t enough just to heal your own worry
Just save those two words and learn from your lesson
Then change who you are and don’t be that same person
