    Falling Without Sound by Melodie Yvonne

    Even when I reach out you don’t feel me
    So why would you think I’d reach out for you
    Even when I’m so loud you don’t see me
    So why can’t I stay blind to this all too

    Every time you walk away I crumble
    All my pieces falling to the ground
    Every time I chase you I just stumble
    Like a tree falling that doesn’t make a sound

    Every time you leave me I’m in pieces
    Knowing I might never see again
    How could you just walk away and leave us
    I wasn’t ready for it all to end

    Every day I feel a little colder
    And I hide myself away from all but you
    The face upon my clock keeps getting older
    And I just don’t know what I should do

    Spend most of my time fakin’ it’s fine
    When really my shit is all outta line
    Spend all of my time feelin’ alone
    But not worthy enough to pick up the phone
    Spend hours and hours tryin’ to smile
    But this smile here’s been faded for quite a while
    Spend mad time just thinking ‘bout you
    And all of the things I wish we could do
    But mostly I’m spendin’ my time
    Hidin’ away in this dark cave of mine
    And wishin’ for maybe some light
    But then when I get it it’s just too dang bright

    Hate me or hate you don’t know what to do
    Love me or love you just gives me the blues

    Spendin’ most of my time full of tears
    I’ve made my own ocean over these years
    And Jesus is all I got left
    But I’m thinkin’ I might just be too big a mess
    And I’m buried in all that I’ve felt
    1 foot in my grave and 1 foot in hell
    Always tryin’ to dig myself out
    But diggin’ me in is what I’m about
    So I spend my time thinking ‘bout you
    And if we could be all the things we could do
    But then I’m just spendin’ my time
    Spinnin’ these wheels that can’t turn on a dime

    Hate me or hate you don’t know what to do
    Love me or love you I still just can’t choose

    Hate me or hate you don’t know what to do
    Love me or love you just gives me the blues

    I feel him touching me all up and down
    I feel him touching me when he’s not around
    I feel him touching me when he’s not here
    I feel him touching me and I tingle everywhere
    I feel him touching me and he pulls my hair
    I feel him touching me and my longing goes everywhere
    I feel him touching me deep down in my soul
    I feel him touching me places he’ll never know
    I feel him touching me every time he comes around
    Though when he comes near me he doesn’t make a sound
    I feel him touching me day and night
    I feel him touching me whether it’s wrong or right
    I feel him touching me deep down in my soul
    I feel him touching me somehow though he’ll never know
    I feel him touching me
    I feel him touching me
    He runs his fingers up and down it doesn’t make a sound
    He rubs my body all tight holds me through the night
    I feel him touching me
    Touching deep down in my soul
    I feel him touching me and I won’t be whole until he’s touching me

    How can you see me and just turn away
    How can you go on another day
    If I’d known you were leavin’ I’d begged you to stay
    You just thought of yourself and now I’m just a stray

    Now I’m just a stray grabbin’ scraps off of tables
    Where is that life that you promised in fables
    Where is that heart that I always adored
    Now I’m just a stray and you’re just a whore

    How could you leave and not say goodbye
    I could fill up an ocean with tears that I’ve cried
    I don’t know how you could treat me this way
    I just wanted to love you now I’m just a stray

    Now I’m just a stray grabbin’ scraps off of tables
    Where is that life that you promised in fables
    Where is that heart that I always adored

    The silence is loud and it tears me apart
    You walked away, but you kept my heart
    I don’t know how long I can go on this way

    I’m writing these letters to you
    ‘Cause I just don’t know what else to do
    And all of these things in my head
    Are all the things I should have said
    Each letter I set on this page
    Makes another love word to engrave
    On the tree trunk that roots to my heart
    From the corner of my mind’s childhood yard

    Each letter of love I write here
    Hope they find their way to your ears
    Hope they find their way to your heart
    So torn paper won’t tear us apart

    So I’m writing these letters to you
    ‘Cause I still don’t know what else to do
    I can’t eat and now I can’t sleep
    Lurid pictures of you in my mind on repeat
    And I know that these thoughts are a sin
    But I just can’t help longing again
    For just one more chance with your charms
    And one more goodbye in your loving arms

    Each letter of love I write here
    Hope they find their way to your ears
    Hope they find their way to your heart

    You’re like a drug and I can’t get enough
    Your face etched a place in my brain
    My thoughts are all rotating right around you
    When you near me my heart goes insane

    When I shut my eyes you breathe into life
    And I tingle with thoughts of your touch
    I wish I could just have you near one more night
    But I’m sure one more night’s not enough

    Just one more night with you in my life
    Let’s just get lost out in space
    In a galaxy far where your eyes are the stars
    Just be lost with me there one more day

    I just wanna feel when your energy’s near
    Let the world fade away into stars
    Don’t really need you to want me or care
    I just wanna be where you are

    I just wanna feel all those things that you do
    When you don’t know that you’ve done a thing
    I just wanna show you all I can do
    If you play me like you play those strings

    Just one more night with you in my life
    Just one more look at your face
    Just one more time can I swim in your eyes
    Just be lost with me there one more day

    We energized the air and now I can’t control it
    And if I do I’ll just spend all that time regrettin’
    I’ll never be perfect enough for you to let in

    So why do I gotta fret and cause a bunch of trouble
    I said I let my heart out, but it’s in a bubble
    I’m hopin’ you will take the time to stop and bust it
    Before I burst in flames after I’ve self-combusted

    My body tingles as I feel your soul get near
    It’s cryin’ out to yours so loud I’m scared you’ll hear
    But maybe if I let it out in all these rhymes
    I can hide it all away somewhere you’ll never find

    I feel your vibes all jived with mine for just one moment
    We energized the air so much I can’t control it
    You’re fannin’ all my fires and now they’re goin’ crazy

    Hopin’, prayin’, wishin’ all for just one kiss
    Your face behind my eyes already just like this
    Why do I gotta be so damned lovesick like this

    How am I so nervous I can hardly breathe
    How’d do you do that thing that makes my knees so weak
    How is it your smile can make my heart skip beats
    That gleam inside your eyes’ll be the end of me

    Hopin’, prayin’, wishin’ all for just one kiss

    Your aura’s straight and narrow and it soothes my soul

    If there’s no love there’s nothin’ to say

    You don’t have to come here to save me
    Or promise to take me away
    Just please love me here in this moment
    So I can have love for today

    I don’t need your friends or your money
    What I want’s what money can’t buy
    I just wanna feel your arms wrapped around me
    And feel how I look through your eyes

    You don’t have to take time to save me
    Or promise to take me away

    You don’t have to make me no promise
    Just be here if only one day

    Outside the Walls by Melodie Yvonne
    (Originally written for Creative Writing at JCHS in October 1993)

    As I walk out my door, I feel the same as any other time.  I know that when I leave the security of my home I must, again, confront the outside world.  The impregnable walls of my room are now gone.

    Today is somewhat dreary.  I cannot wander far for it is raining.  I am content to sit and gaze at the world from the quiet seclusion of my garage.

    I look around and noticed I am alone.  No one else has ventured from their homes today.  There are no children playing or people walking as there would be on any given sunny day.  There is no noise except the tapping of the rain hitting the ground, and an occasional vehicle passing by.  Everything appears dead.  All of the leaves have fallen from the trees and lay upon the wet ground.

    The sky is gray and unpenetrated by any sunlight.  I become mesmerized by a single puddle.  With each drop of rain, a momentary circle is formed, and then disappears only to be replaced by another.

    Today, although really no different from any other day, seems a little more real in my mind.  All it really takes is just a moment to step back and look at the world from a different view to appreciate it more.  I guess everything looks a little bit better when one looks at it from a distance.
