    Desensitized Monotony by Melodie Yvonne

All these things they pull me down
All these things don’t make a sound
Make me feel I’m gonna drown

But that’s all so fucking boring

Just a bunch of putrid stories
    To relive our foolish glories
‘Til they’re just another pop song
Makin’ me feel what I feel’s wrong
‘Til I fade away to nothing
Just another fueled up drug train

    And it’s boring

A never ending cry of “Me too”
‘Til no one can fucking hear you
So you just keep screamin’ louder
But you just keep losing power
    ‘Cause… monotony
As wild as you can be
    Means fucking nothing anymore
    ‘Cause you’re a bore
    And I’m no better
    My stormy weather
    Is fucking boring
    And pulls me down.

All these things they pull me down
All these things don’t make a sound
Make me feel I’m gonna drown

    But it’s so fucking boring

  • This Week

Originally published online Oct 16, 2020 & in the collection Photographic Memories: 7even available here

    This Week by Melodie Yvonne

This week I fell apart, I found an end, but not a start
This week I fell apart, I tried to give and lost my heart
This week I cried and cried, I drowned until my well was dry
This week I just gave in, to giving up, forgive my sins

I don’t know what to do, if I can’t keep on loving you
I don’t know what to be, if you can’t be a part of me

This year I fell apart, my shattered heart’s a work of art
1000 broken pieces, float off in space yet never leave us
All alone to heal, they rain back down like sharpened steel
I can’t keep me together, Lord, get me through this stormy weather

‘Cause I don’t know what to do, if I can’t keep on loving you
I don’t know what to be, if you can’t be a part of me

This week I lost all hope, and I just don’t know how to cope
Without dreams of forever, but at least I finally got some closure
Now there’s just this time, that twists and turns throughout my mind
Until this week is over, and I just have to start another

I don’t know what to do, if I can’t keep on loving you
I don’t know what to be, if you can’t be a part of me
I don’t know how to feel, knowing that the end is real
But finally it’s over, I’m giving up on being sober

I don’t know what to do if I can’t keep on loving you
I don’t know what to be if you can’t be a part of me
I don’t know what to do if I can’t keep dreamin’ ’bout you
I don’t know what to be if I can’t dream you’ll set me free

  • Somebody Else Like You

Somebody Else Like You by Melodie Yvonne

I was wrong… there is somebody else like you
    You’re a dime a dozen, but I never knew
All those boys that break toys and then they’re through
I was wrong… there’s plenty more just like you

I wish I had walked away long before
Gettin’ stuck in your stupid revolving door
But now I’m all dizzy and just wanna puke
I’d really rather wrap my mouth ’round a nuke

You broke every promise you ever made
Destroyed every present you ever gave
Ridiculed me until I felt ashamed
Threw rocks ’til I shattered and then you threw grenades

I was wrong… there is somebody else like you
    You’re a dime a dozen, but I never knew
All those boys that break toys and then they’re through
I was wrong… there’s plenty more just like you

You may have left me, but I’ve left you for dead
Never again will you fuck with my head
No more of your lies and your lil false Edens
Can’t touch me no more ’cause I’ve got my freedom

You tore me down, but I built me up
Now I get to say when enough is enough
I guess I should thank you, though, really and truly
For helping me learn how to conquer a bully

I was wrong… there is somebody else like you
    You’re a dime a dozen, but I never knew
All those boys that break toys and then they’re through
I was wrong… there’s plenty more just like you

How to Dodge a Broken Heart by Melodie Yvonne

Every time I fall in love I always fall apart
I always get a lil scared and then break my own heart
The crazy things I do for love could be a work of art
Or a cautionary tale on how to dodge a broken heart

Do all the things I say, but not a single one I do
Lock away your heart and hide the key for only you
It may be kinda lonely, but my favorite color’s blue
So, a lil bit of lonely don’t hurt more than losin’ you

Lock away your heart and hide the key for only you
If you’re scared he’ll call it quits just go ahead and say, “We’re through!”
Do everything I say, but not a single thing I do
‘Cause my actions are a’screamin’ that I’m just not over you

Every time I fall in love I bend until I break
And even while I’m bendin’ I just know it’s a mistake
I give and give and give and you just take and take and take
‘Til my poor pathetic heart just sits and aches and aches and aches

Do everything I say, but not a single thing I do
Every time you breathe, inhale that breath for only you
Keep your heart all tucked inside a room without a view
‘Cause a lil bit of lonely don’t hurt more than losin’ you

Every time I fall in love I always fall apart
I always get a little scared and then break my own heart
The crazy things I do for love could be a work of art
Or a cautionary tale on how to dodge a broken heart

    Playin’ Chicken by Melodie Yvonne

I’m feelin’ just a little scared
I try to act like I don’t care
But really I just wanna touch you
Wishin’ that you’d feel that way too

Wishin’ I knew how to show you
That I’m not here tryin’ to own you
But I sure wish that you’d linger
    ‘Cause I can’t help I’m a dreamer

    Thinkin’ ‘bout your dreamy oceans
    Charged by your electric motions
    Like a V8 in a frenzy
Revvin’ up until the light’s green

    Just another game of chicken
With a cliff down at the road’s end
    But I’m there already fallin’
Thinkin’ I might have to jump in

Now I’m stuck here in a freefall
Wishin’ that I coulda just stalled
‘Fore I charged full speed right at you
Shovin’ you right off that cliff too

    Thinkin’ ‘bout your dreamy oceans
    Charged by your electric motions
    Like a V8 in a frenzy
Revvin’ up until the light’s green

    Just another game of chicken
With a cliff down at the road’s end
    But I’m there already fallin’
In fact I kind of just leapt off it

  • Do You See Me?

Originally published online Aug 7, 2020 & in the collection Photographic Memories: 7even available here

Do You See Me? by Melodie Yvonne

Do you see me? ‘Cause I see you
    I don’t know what I’m gonna do
With all these feelings rushin’ at me
I just want you to be happy

But why can’t it just be me?
Just once why can’t my someone see
Take one more glance inside my eyes
And don’t give me no more goodbyes

Do you see me? ‘Cause I see you
Those eyes and their electric blue
I’m lost and drowning in your oceans
Lost in all your stoic motions

Lost in all the things you do
And all the love that makes you you
Lost in all these frantic notions
That I just can’t help but hope in

I just want you to be happy
In this world that’s pretty crappy
But I’m lost in all you do
And all I want’s to be lost in you

Do you see me? ‘Cause I see you
    I don’t know what I’m gonna do
With all these feelings rushin’ at me
I just want you to be happy

Stuck in Forward by Melodie Yvonne

    Sometimes things break
    Sometimes I break
I’m just as fragile as people

    Sometimes I fall
    And can’t get back up
Trampled by all of the sheeple

    Sometimes I just drink
    And can’t find myself
Gettin’ lost in all of the “equals”

    Sometimes I just cry
    And I don’t know why
    My toxicity toeing on lethal

    Sometimes I stop thinkin’
    Ignore all the truths
And get stuck in an unending free fall

    I think I need help
    I think I need a savior
But Jesus is hid by his people

    So sometimes I hide
    I just wanna die
But I’d probably wind up a shit beetle

    So I’ll just keep goin’
    Blind full speed ahead
Like Snowman bound and down in his diesel

Then one day with a blink
    Again I start to sink
And I’m right back in my nightmare’s sequel

    Sometimes things break
    Sometimes I break
Once again I’m as fragile as people

    And then I fall
    And can’t get back up
Stuck in forward, tires spinnin’ in evil

    So then I just drink
    And then I lose myself
And get lost in all of my “equals”

    Heavy by Melodie Yvonne

    My stomach’s in knots & I can’t feel a thing
‘Cept the rootin’ and tinglin’ up in my brain
My mind is all heavy & I’m gettin’ scared
Of the damage that might one day not be repaired

My butterflies twistin’ & turnin’ inside
I’m pretty sure this time there’s nowhere to hide
I gotta keep movin’, but I gotta stop
‘Cause if this shit keeps goin’ I’m just gonna drop

I’m boilin’ over, I’m right on the brink
And I’m certainly not innocent like you think
One day real soon your fucked life’s coming at you
There’s nowhere to hide in a world that beget you

You gotta stop, it’s time you took a break
Step back & look at the mess you have made
Turn back to God, it’s time you made amends
‘Cause He sees right on through all your bullshit pretend

    Stomach’s in knots & I can’t feel a thing
‘Cept the rootin’ and tinglin’ up in my brain
My mind is all heavy & I’m gettin’ scared
Of your damage that’s too late for me to repair

    Stomach’s in knots & I can’t feel a thing
‘Cept the rootin’ and tinglin’ up in my brain
My mind is all heavy & I’m gettin’ scared
Of the damage that’s too late for you to repair

Yeah, my mind is all heavy & I’m gettin’ scared
Of the damage that’s too late to ever repair

Bad Date: A Fool Waiting On The Right Block by Melodie Yvonne

You think you’re just as slick as motherfuckin’ Pee-wee Herman
Goin’ to the movies with his big ole jug of Jergens
But really what you don’t know is you’re nothin’ but a player
Chokin’ out your next commander like you’re motherfuckin’ Vadar

You think you’re extra tasty like a chili cheese burrito
But you sure ain’t seen spicy ’til you get a load of me though
You make excuses sayin’ that you need to tend your fire
But I guess you just ain’t nothing but a motherfuckin’ liar

You treat me like I’m worthless, but you’ll miss me when it’s over
You think you got me on a leash, but you’re no Casanova
I finally see the truth in you and this is what I see
I don’t deserve none of your shit and you don’t deserve me

You’re driftin’ through this life all full of pride and unaware
You’re actin’ like a toddler somehow confident AND scared
You puff up big & brave, but tell the truth you wouldn’t dare
What you did was really hurt me like you never even cared

I’m holier than thou, but you’re so blindly narcissistic
You throw out your opinions like you’re Weiner sendin’ dick pics
It’s gettin’ old real fast and I’m not gonna take your shit
One day soon I will be over you and maybe it’ll stick

You treat me like I’m worthless, but you’ll miss me when it’s over
You think you got me on a leash, but you’re no Casanova
I finally see the truth in you and this is what I see
I don’t deserve none of your shit and you don’t deserve me

You act like you’re the greatest of them all, but I’m not useless
You think you’re smart as Stephen Hawking, but you’re really clueless
It’s gettin’ old real fast and I’m not gonna take your shit
One day soon I will be over you and you can suck my clit

You treat me like I’m worthless, but you’ll miss me when it’s over
You think you got me on a leash, but you’re no Casanova
I finally see the truth in you and this is what I see
I don’t deserve none of your shit and you don’t deserve me

Yeah, I don’t deserve none of your shit and you don’t deserve me
