    Treadin’ Beauty by Melodie Yvonne

    Ridin’ on my coattails
Man, you got to go now
I can’t handle all this weight
Soon my back is gonna break
    I can’t abide with what you’re doin’
Soon this all will be in ruin
Tryin’ to keep my anguish back
but then I launch a sneak attack
This tread from walkin’ over me
is deep and I’m about to flee
    Your propaganda’s mostly toxic
Broken words all make my mind sick
    Clouds are hangin’ low outside
Leave these problems way up high
Wishin’ you a life of charms
But takin’ back my lovin’ arms

Never Without You by Melodie Yvonne

    Somedays I’m happy what happened
Some days I just wanna cry
I wouldn’t take back what has happened
    ‘Cause everything’s opened my eyes
But now I can’t stop my mind thinkin’
Of how I’ll stop thinkin’ of you
And I’m thinkin’ I’m ‘bout to start drinkin’
‘Cause I just don’t wanna feel blue

    I don’t know what I’m gonna do
    Without you it’s crazy ‘cause
    I never had you

Sometimes my thoughts are so loud
I can’t hear anything over the din
    And sometimes it’s everyday life
But most times I’m thinkin ‘bout him
The one that’s revolving my life
The one that’s been buried within
Yeah, sometimes my thoughts are on money
But most times I’m thinkin bout him

    I don’t know what I’m gonna do
    Without you it’s crazy ‘cause
    I never had you

How do I stop all this racket
How do I let these thoughts go
My hearts screamin’ over my head now
And this heartache continues to grow
These mind numbing sins are most noble
    Endlessly lost outside you
    I’m finally done being sober
Killin’ my feelings until we are through

    I don’t know what I’m gonna do
    Without you it’s crazy ‘cause
    I never had you

    Humbly speaking
    this stink that is reeking
    Permeates my soul every day

    This odious feeling
    is sending me reeling
and wretchedness holds so much sway

    I need to elude this
    venomous snake kiss
I’m gonna drop dead where I lay

    I’m gonna go crazy
this shit it will change me
If I can’t get out of its way….

Just sittin around takin’ up space on your porch,
    Sittin around makin it skunk.
It could be worse in my head I guess…
I’m way worse in my head when I’m drunk.

    I’m wastin away everday
    Still feelin’ so very senseless
But being inside your bright aura I’m weightless,
And feelin’ a little less useless.

Just sittin’ around takin up space on your couch,
    Sittin around makin’ it skunk.
It could be waaay worse in my head I guess….
I’m way worse when I’m feelin’ the funk.

Just sittin’ around takin’ up space in your heart’
    Sittin’ around makin’ it Skunk
    Well, it could be worse
    It could be so worse
I’m still worse in my head when I’m drunk.

    Smile

    Belly by Melodie Yvonne

i got an achin’ in my belly
and a rootin’ in my brain
    this constant prodding yapping
    is driving me insane.

    it’s just small conversations
    nothing gettin’ deep
    and every breath you exhale
    is makin’ this room reek.

    Nails by Melodie Yvonne

As I pull these crooked nails

out of these old tired walls

I think about my own foolishness

How can I believe with a nature impermanent

    and fluctuating such as mine

that’d I stay in one place for this long

that’s I’d stay in one place for this time?

How am I going to fill all these holes?

and not just the holes in my mind

I need to find a place to heal mine

A place that can fill them all of the time

these gaping chasms in my heart

and my soul have finally combined

An author’s note about this work: Many people know I spend a lot of time writing poetry and lyrics outside of my daily photography and music reviews. I thought I’d share today a little bit of my writing process, and how sometimes my roaming thoughts turn into what they are. Here is a little example:

While trying to sell my house I had been doing a lot of packing, painting, and patching. On the particular day this poem was born I had decided to take down all of my wall art. I began removing the nails and patching the holes to prepare for painting. These thoughts were roaming through my mind as I worked…

“As I pull these crooked nails out of these old tired walls all I can think about is my own foolishness. How could I have believed with a nature as impermanent and fluctuating such as mine that I would stay in one place for this long? How am I going to fill all of these holes… and not just the ones in the walls. I need to find a place to heal for a while, a place that can fill the gaping chasms in my heart and soul.”

I immediately stopped and began typing. I just felt like there was something there, but I went back to work, and then I kinda forgot. I didn’t stumble upon it for a couple of months after that, and then when I did I began looking at the possibilities, and “Nails” came to life.

Well, there you have it. Maybe this didn’t turn out to be one of my most best and brilliant, but the idea is there. Maybe I’ll go back, and look another day. Until then make sure to go back and visit my original poetic works, Photographic Memories: In the Beginning and Photographic Memories: Meet me in the Middle.

This is what I’m feelin’ like
    Movin’ around, but catatonic
Lustin’ around, and just can’t stop it.
    Stuck in this house
    playin’ mind tricks
Inside this home, and feelin’ homesick
    Needin’ this sunshine
    before I stop and wither
Bleedin’ myself dry tryin’ to be a giver.

Tighten that seatbelt, close your eyes, and don’t be scared. You can walk away at any time… but I won’t. I’ll be here long after you’re gone and long after you come back and leave again. Waiting for you just to rip my heart out and make a poetry stew. I hope you all enjoy the taste.

Thank you for joining me on this incredible ride, my loves!

And know this… if you found your way here it’s for a reason. All who wander are NOT lost!

    Ever yours, Melodie Yvonne
