My Misery Loves Company by Melodie Yvonne
I am taut skin over plastic and a heart encased in glass I’m about to shatter if this saving don’t come fast I am lost out in the cosmos and my mind’s out in the rain You can put me back together but I’ll never be the same
I’m the one that’s here to save you but I just can’t save myself I’m a messed up prophet savior only saving someone else But if you try to fix me I’ll just up and leave My misery loves company and that dear friend is me
My brain’s a twisted carnival, my skull’s a one man tent No sense in being classy when I’m comfortable low rent I’ll be the girl your momma loves, I’ll be the one she hates I’ll be the thing you need the most until my being breaks
I’m the one that’s here to save you but I just can’t save myself I’m a messed up prophet savior only saving someone else But if you try to fix me I’ll just up and leave ‘Cause my misery loves company and that dear friend is me Oh yes, my misery loves company, and that dear friend is me
Now I’ve told you how I’m feeling and I hope you listened in My cards are on the table and the dealer’s gonna win Player one is yelling “Yahtzee!”, but I’m still player two And I’m afraid I’ll never finish and be bought or owned by you
I’m the one that’s here to save you but I still can’t save myself I’m your messed up prophet savior only saving someone else And if you try to fix me I’ll just up and leave ‘Cause my misery loves company and that dear friend is me Oh yes, my misery loves company, and that dear friend is me

This Sunday, September 7, I’ll be stepping onto the stage to share my words live. The performance begins at 4PM, woven between the brilliance of Premium Blend as part of the Clear Vibes Concerts ft Premium Blend!
It means a lot to bring my poetry into this kind of space — surrounded by music, energy, and community. If you’ve been curious to experience my work beyond the page, this is a perfect moment to join me.
I can’t wait to see some familiar faces (and new ones too) in the crowd, and to share this afternoon of sound and spirit together.

Confined in Space by Melodie Yvonne
Face is flushing, hard to breathe I’m waitin’, wantin’ to flee and leave I’ve got these wings to jump and fly But I’m stuck where I’m at and I don’t know why
Feelin’ happy most all the time Eatin’ fudge and feelin’ fine Got my pen to write some rhymes Ain’t that just enough of fine?
Feelin’ bugged, confined in space Mark my words that mark my face Skin’s too damp to clear my brow And Shannon’s right, air’s heavy now
Feelin’ happy most all the time Eatin’ fudge and feelin’ fine Got my pen to write some rhymes Ain’t that just enough of fine?

Take A Breath by Melodie Yvonne
Just take a breath and finally say goodbye Let me go don’t look me in the eye Tell me that you’ll finally set me free And snap this tethered string from you to me
Just take a breath and watch me walk away You never heard the things my heart would say You never listened to my soul that prayed Your gaze is just a thinly veiled charade
Just take a breath and time to run and hide Follow these bright headlights through the night These lights that show how brightly I can see The path I need to run away and leave
Just take a breath again I’m here alone This lonely sound proof room that is my home I’m shackled and my meat is worn to bone But I know I can’t get hurt here on my own

My Broke Apocalypse by Melodie Yvonne
I turn up the music I’m swimming in you Swimming in you With devotion so true Until I wake up And realize again Time has run out You left in the end
Now it’s my broke Apocalypse My eclipsed sunshine trip My fucking life to live Now how I want to live
Tryin’ to ride life Like I’m on the rails But how do I know you’re Not blowin’ the sails Shouldn’t have put you up High on that shelf Cause you fell right off And I’m still by myself
And it’s my broke Apocalypse My eclipsed sunshine trip My fucking life to live Now how I want to live
My broke Apocalypse My eclipsed sunshine trip Give me the life I live Now I’m done givin’ in
My broke Apocalypse My eclipsed sunshine trip My lonely life to live Now I don’t wanna live
My broke Apocalypse My eclipsed sunshine trip My lonely life to live Now I’m not gonna live
