Words from a gonzoesque life in an oh so gonzoless world

  • Endless Motions

Originally published online June 13, 2017 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: Deux Mille Dix-Sept — available here

    Endlessly I go through motions
    Feeling nothing like emotions
    Tired of crossing over oceans
Just to please your endless notions

I’m so sick I just can’t stand it
    Paranoia’s roots are planted
    Now I’m leavin’ empty handed
Too late now these scars are branded

Maybe I just want to cry
The gleam is gone within my eye
But somehow I still got the shine
I’m hidin’ it so it stays mine

    Endlessly I go through motions
    Feeling nothing like emotions
    Tired of crossing over oceans
Just to please your endless notions

I’ve been nothing less than candid
Still you’ve gone and left me stranded
Piece of trash that you abandoned
I’m the beast and you’re enchanted

Maybe I just want to cry
The gleam is gone within my eye
But somehow I still got the shine
I’m hidin’ it so it stays mine

Maybe I just want to die
Gouge that gleam out in my eye
Make it done and end the lie
And set my simple soul on fire

Set my simple soul on fire
Set my simple soul on fire

  • Saving You Won’t Save My Soul

Originally published online June 12, 2017 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: Deux Mille Dix-Sept — available here

    Forgotten names I won’t remember
My heart’s cold just like December
Soul’s a pile of burning embers
Still I glow but you defend her

Walked away but still I linger
    Never wanted to see clearer
Here I stand now, I’m your mirror
All these lies you see go deeper

Wish I may and wish I might
    Be myself alone tonight
‘Cause anytime that you get near
My whole body’s filled with fear

Wish I may and wish I might
    Be myself alone tonight
‘Cause I still care more than you know
But saving you won’t save my soul

You still wish you were her dinner
Scared that she is gettin’ thinner
But you lost and she’s the winner
Might as well have stuck it in her

Still I sit here and I linger
    Wishing you’d stop pointing fingers
Your white wash won’t make her cleaner
Tired of eyes that only see her

Wish I may and wish I might
    Be myself alone tonight
‘Cause anytime that you get near
My whole body’s filled with fear

Wish I may and wish I might
    Be myself alone tonight
‘Cause I still care more than you know
But saving you won’t save my soul

Absence makes the heart grow stoic
    Sympathy’s just not heroic
If I ever have to miss you
Ice cold nothing’s all I cling to

    Universal dried up wasteland
Holds my universe in its hands
It’s too dark for me to breathe here
Visual snow won’t let me see clear

Let me go, don’t let me go
I need to need more than I show
Let me go, don’t let me go
Or else I’m gonna lose control

Pumped up products of our upkeep
Makes our softened hearts and souls weep
But these tears are mostly harmless
Given what our standards cost us

It’s a price we paid with sin and
I should never let you in
    Vanity’s much worse than greed
I can’t have you but you can’t leave

Let me go, don’t let me go
I need to need more than I show
Let me go, don’t let me go
Or else I’m gonna lose control

Let me go, don’t let me go
I need to need more than I show
Let me go, don’t let me go
Or else I’m gonna lose control

  • No More Seeing You Again

Originally published online May 24, 2017 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: Deux Mille Dix-Sept — available here

    I don’t know what I want, but I know when I don’t want it
I’ve never been real good at make-believe, fake shit, and frontin’
I’ve never really been in love just know when someone wants me
And there’s really not too many to surprise or even stump me

I’m never really ever gonna know if we are over
All I really know is that I just can’t do this sober
And if I have to have something to numb away the pain
Then maybe it’s just time for no more seeing you again

I’ve never been the kind to be somewhere that I’m not wanted
Don’t want to be ignored, but also sick of being hunted
I don’t know what I want, but I’m quite sure that it’s not this
‘Cause the price is way too high for me to pay for just a kiss

I’m never really ever gonna know if we are over
All I really know is that I just can’t do this sober
And if I have to have something to numb away the pain
Then maybe it’s just time for no more seeing you again

I’m still not sure what falling is or maybe I’m just broken
Not sure if I’ve a heart left or a need to keep on hopin’
But maybe all I need is just to numb away the pain
So maybe it’s the time again for seeing you again

I’m never really ever gonna know if we are over
All I really know is that I just can’t do this sober
And if I have to have something to numb away the pain
Then maybe it’s just time for no more seeing you again

My friend, I guess it’s just the time for no more seeing you again
My dear, I guess it’s just the time for no more seeing you again
My love, I guess it’s just the time for no more seeing you again

  • Dead in My Head

Originally published online May 21, 2017 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: Deux Mille Dix-Sept — available here

Lost scraps of paper float through the wind
Wondering if I’ll ever see them again
Lost bits of memory flow through my mind
I try to forget and leave them behind
Your words fill my ears from inside my head
To listen again or leave them for dead
You’re just like my words that float through the air
Not looking back not stopping to care

Wanna be with you, but just in my head
My heart is just broken and left me for dead
You never heard the words that I said
My soul is all homeless, my body’s been bled

Landscapes fly by the windshield in my mind
I rev the engine then leave them behind
Try to steer clear of these spots that are blind
Moving my mirrors ‘til I change what I find
Try to speed up troubles stay right behind
With my one sided reflective memories mind
Tryin’ to erase all the bad I let in
But cleaning the mind doesn’t undo the sins

Wanna be with you, but just in my head
My heart is just broken and left me for dead
You never heard the words that I said
My soul is all homeless, my body’s been bled

Wanna be with you, but just in my head
My heart is all broken, just leave me for dead
You never heard the words that I said
Now your body is homeless ’cause my soul’s been bled
Now we are both soulless ‘cause we are both dead

  • My Hero

Originally published online May 20, 2017 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: Deux Mille Dix-Sept — available here

You are Superman, but I don’t need a lift
You are Captain America, but I’ve got the gift
You’re quick just like The Flash but you’re wasting all my time
And I just don’t need no more of yours, I’ve got too much of mine

You are Wonderboy, but I am Wonder Woman
And if we’re here together then who’ll be there to save them
You’re a super power but I’m just Switzerland
And it’s just too hard to pick a side, break walls, and let you in

    You’re a firefighter, but I’m a firestarter
Each day that we’re together just gets hard, and then gets harder
You just sit all quiet as you listen and you learn
But I’m all sittin’ here just waiting for the world to burn

You are my Scott Summers, but I need my Wolverine
I need a little dirty, and you like to keep it clean
I’m waiting for my gambit, though, when all is said and done
And I wish you well, and hope at least you’ve had the mostest fun

Oh! You are Superman, but I don’t need a lift
You’re my Captain America, but I’ve got the gift
You’re quick just like The Flash, but you’re wasting all my time
And I just don’t need no more of yours, I’ve got too much of mine

Oh no, I just don’t need no more of yours, I’ve got too much of mine

  • I’m A Real Shell

Originally published online May 13, 2017 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: Deux Mille Dix-Sept — available here

Are you a real person, or are you just a shell?
Sent here from heaven, or sent straight from hell?
Will you take me with you to climb up this mountain,
Or leave me back down in the ditch where I cower down?

Are you a real person, or are you just a shell?
Don’t know you at all, or do I know you well?
Thinkin’ for sure time would kill all this wonder,
But right on back here I am crashing like thunder

Are you a real person, or are you just a shell?
Why do I give a shit? Why can’t I tell?
There’s gotta be somethin’ deep in me that’s fell
And I bury it deep so that no one can tell

Are you a real person, or are you just a shell?
Were you sent here to me from heaven or hell?
I just plain don’t care no more, now can you tell?
My bottomless pit of a heart’s not for sale

Are you a real person, or are you just a shell?
Sent here from heaven, or sent straight from hell?
Walked straight away hoping absence would fix me
But all I am doing is wonderin’ if you missed me

Are you a real person, or are you just a shell?
‘Cause I’m not a person now, buried as well
I’ve not been a person since that time that I fell
No longer a person, now I’m just a shell

  • “M” is for Migraine

Originally published online May 10, 2017 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: Deux Mille Dix-Sept — available here

Hormones and weather wreak havoc on me
Chop off my head it might set me free
If this keeps it up I’ll be a disgrace
‘Cause I’m walking around missin’ half of my face

Belly is twisted and making me squeamish
Your odor ails me somehow worse than appearance
If I had a match I think I’d ignite you
And take out this odious thing you give life to

“M” is for migraine, and “I” is in pain
“G” is for gouging, “R” roots my brain
    “A” is for agony, “I”, “N”, insane
And “E” is for everything making me lame

All of these muscles are tense in my neck
Well, of course, only half as I bet you could guess
I’m walking around sticking chemicals in me
Knowing damn well it’s a mask and won’t fix me

Running away sometimes fixes my problem
But just like the rest it works short then gets sodden
And when it comes back it’s doubled in strength
Like a real angry Bruce sittin’ right on the brink

“M” is for migraine, and “I” is in pain
“G” is for gouging, “R” roots my brain
    “A” is for agony, “I”, “N”, insane
And “E” is for everything making me lame

I sit in the dark and I pray for a savior
My head is just wrecked, but my soul signed a waiver
And now there is only me left that can fix me
If I’ve been forgiven then why have you jinxed me?

“M” is for migraine, and “I” is in pain
“G” is for gouging, “R” roots my brain
    “A” is for agony, “I”, “N”, insane
And “E” is for everything making me lame
“E” is for everyone causing me pain
“E” can fuck off when it rains in my brain
“E” can fuck off when it rains

  • Seed Guzzler Part Twat: Lil Miss Match Light

Originally published online May 3, 2017 & in the print collection Seed Guzzler: And Other Succubi — available here

A face to strike a match on but she sure looks nice in jeans
Bedazzled backhand pockets are priority over teeth
But somehow without warning, she still can steal your man
‘Cause she’s just a tricked out hooker livin’ life by meth’s demands

She keeps the holy saviors name close by in case she needs it
Askin’ help from everyone until its help they’re needin’
And then she pulls it out and cries just pray for what you want
And if that doesn’t work just make some money with your cunt

A face to strike a match on but she sure looks nice in jeans
Bedazzled backhand pockets are priority over teeth
But somehow without warning, she still can steal your man
‘Cause she’s just a tricked out hooker livin’ life by meth’s demands

Puts Clorox on her hair and slathers make up on her face
Just gettin hired to dig for gold until she finds her place
With toothless smile and sexy ass she wraps her lips for humming
Then she quits her day job real quick ’cause at night she’s got him cumming

A face to strike a match on but she sure looks nice in jeans
Bedazzled backhand pockets are priority over teeth
But somehow without warning, she still can steal your man
‘Cause she’s just a tricked out hooker livin life by meth’s demands

Real soon he’s losin’ his job too and now he’s goin’ bankrupt
She fed him just a piece of fruit and now his money’s dried up
She picks up those white dentures and she heads right out the door
‘Cause he’s got no more to offer and she’s gotta find some more

A face to strike a match on but she sure looks nice in jeans
Bedazzled backhand pockets are priority over teeth
But somehow without warning, she still can steal your man
‘Cause she’s just a tricked out hooker livin’ life by meth’s demands

Oh she’s just a tricked out hooker livin’ lies that steal your man

  • I Run

Originally published online April 28, 2017 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: Deux Mille Dix-Sept — available here

I run ‘cause I think if I’m smooth enough I can run into your arms
I smile ‘cause I think if I’m cute enough I’ll win you with my charms
But all I really know is what you make me see
That my special kinda crazy’s not as fucked as it could be

I run ‘cause I think if I’m same enough you might run right back to me
I want you by my side but when you’re here I just want free
I love your every wrinkle, I swim in your big eyes
But I know that you can hurt me ‘cause I’m beggin’ for your lies

I run from you like clockwork as you run right through my mind
I run from you while prayin’ you are runnin’ right behind
I run around just like a foolish chicken with no head
And I run around all crazy lookin’ way too far ahead

I run ‘cause I think if I stop too long I’ll realize what I’ve done
I run ‘cause I know if I stand too still I’ll hate what I’ve become
But mostly I just run from what you told me not to be
When you said don’t settle down, dear, or you’ll end up just like me

Don’t ever settle down, dear, or you’ll end up just like me

    I run
