Words from a gonzoesque life in an oh so gonzoless world

  • Seed Guzzler Part Six Feet Under the Bridge: The Trip Trapping Troll

Your words fall not on deafened ears
In fact I hear them loud and clear
    It’s just I don’t hear what you’re sending
I see through your happy ending

I hear all those words you spew
I see your shitty comments too
But somehow you just still don’t get it
Words don’t hurt spewed from a dipshit

Trolls will talk and trolls will spew
But don’t let that shit make you blue
‘Cause in the end when this is over
    Karma always carries over

Took me months to clean your mess
Deserved it, yeah, maybe, I guess
But no one here deserves a lifetime
Blasted loud and clear on prime time

So take heed, this final warning
I don’t want what you got coming
If you don’t quit being an ogre
You’ll be fucked by my four-leaf clover

Trolls will talk and trolls will spew
But don’t let that shit make you blue
‘Cause in the end when this is over
    Karma always carries over

Something to Tell You by Melodie Yvonne

Now I’ve got something to tell you I just can’t explain
This truth it eats away at me and rots away my brain

    I just feel I’m suffocating
    In this life I own
And I just feel I lost my way now
    And I should have known

I know it’s not too late to fix it
    Not too late to try
So I guess it’s time to walk away now
    Time to say goodbye

Now I’ve got something to tell you, lean in close to me
Once I just can find the words here they will set me free

The truth is I don’t know the answer
    See I’m just a fraud
I really don’t know how I got here
    But I turned from God

Now I’ve got something to tell you, it might set you free
But my truth is mostly circumstantial, why do you want to hear from me?

I wish I had a nickel for each time
    ‘Twas said to me
“Now I’ve got something to tell you”
    It might set me free

See I don’t know just how I got here
But now I just don’t care
And from here on out I’m going to just
Let God’s will take me there

Now I’ve got something to tell you I just can’t explain
The truth it eats away here, and it rots away my brain

Lost Human Race by Melodie Yvonne

I’m lost in a soup of confusion and sadness that melts away my mind until dawn
I’m lost here ‘tween tryin to stay sane and just madness and I’m doin’ everything wrong
And each time I close up my peepers for answers all I can see is your face
I’ve lost all I’ve gained and I’m coming in last in this horribly lost human race

I feel like I been here again and again, a wormhole on a loop that I’m trapped in
I look ‘round for comfort and find I’m alone but I just don’t know how all this happened
What started for fun turned out just fun for you and I’m trippin’ up tryin to keep pace
Now I’ve lost all I gained and still coming in last in this horribly lost human race

Now don’t think I blame you I know it’s my fault that I dragged you along for the ride
I knew long ago that there’d be no one here when I wanted you here by my side
But I was so wrong it’s better to be gone than a sprinter just joggin’ in place
So I’m runnin away ‘cause I’ve done had enough of this horribly lost human race

  • Cold Concrete Home

Cold Concrete Home by Melodie Yvonne

Sittin’ here listenin’ to industrial crickets
Folks walkin’ ‘round like they’re lost on a mission
And I never wanted to be stuck here this way
But here I sit, here I live, here I just stay

Factory made melodies lull us to sleep
And anti-emotion pills hide what we keep
But what I keep doesn’t need hid every day
I’m not scared what you’ll think of these things I say

Then I say softly please don’t let me be
Then I say softly just stay here with me
Cuddle me softly don’t leave me alone
Don’t make me go back to that cold concrete home

And again I hear humming of industrial crickets
Lost souls all around me just gettin’ their fixes
Use and repeat at least twice a day
To get through this shift in the least feeling way

Top level merchandise buys out our souls
We keep right on grinding just tryin’ to fill holes
Subconscious bribery “does us a favor”
And we just sit numbly wishing for a Savior

Then I beg softly please don’t let me be
Then I beg softly just stay here with me
Cuddle me softly don’t leave me alone
Don’t make me go back to that cold concrete home

Past twenty years gone yet here I’m still grinding
Don’t even think no more just obey blindly
Guess my life’s gone now and soon it’s my soul
This industrial nightmare has swallowed me whole

I begged you softly please don’t let me be
I begged you softly just stay here with me
Too late to save me now leave me alone
I’m safe and I’m used to my cold concrete home

How Am I Gonna Forget ‘Bout You by Melodie Yvonne

Bent and broken, ripped and torn
I forgot what love is for
    Unattended and abused
    Maybe just a little used
Then I see you standing there
And suddenly you’re all I care
Then I see you standing there
    So beautiful and unaware

How am I gonna forget ‘bout you
When all you are is all I do

I just keep on runnin’ away
It’s easier than what I got to say
I’m tryin’ not to look at you
‘Cause your gaze owns me through and through
How’d I get so freakin’ stupid
I know better than to believe in cupid
How do I get past all this hoping
When all I want’s for you to want me

How am I gonna forget ‘bout you
When all you are is all I do
How am I gonna forget ‘bout you
When I know that my heart is true
How am I gonna forget ‘bout you
When all you are is all I do
How am I gonna forget ‘bout you
When all you are is all I am too

    Awake by Melodie Yvonne

I’m not sure if I’ll sleep again
It’s still so hard to be your friend
And oh so how I long to touch you
There’s just no one else above you

I’m not sure if I’ll sleep this night
I close my eyes and see your light
A spark from just a quick embrace
It burns so bright etching your face

Oh so how I long to touch you
There’s just no one else above you

I’m not sure if I’ll sleep tonight
I feel your fingers on my side
And I don’t care if I’ll sleep again
Just please don’t let this sweetness end

Oh so how I long to touch you
Wish you felt the same ‘bout me too
Oh so how I long to touch you
There’s still no one else above you

  • #metoo?

    #metoo? by Melodie Yvonne

    Pretending I’m in outerspace
So I don’t have to see your face
Those leering eyes look down at me
I’ve lost all hope you’ll set me free

You drove me out too far from home
Way further than the buffalos roam
Pretending that you were my friend
Until we reached that dark dead-end
Your touch it chilled the coldest ice
You blamed me, said that I enticed
I gently said, “We must get back”
    Maliciously you spit a laugh
“Ass, gas, or grass. No rides are free”
“I thought you liked my company”
Whatever just to make me guilty
How come I’m the one that feels so filthy???

    Pretending I’m in outerspace
So I don’t have to see your face
Those leering eyes still look at me
My only hope you took from me

You drove me back but I’m still there
I don’t know how you just don’t care
I watch you go on ‘bout your day
Like you didn’t take my worth away
But how on earth could I have let you?
It’s my fault for smiling at you
It’s my fault for all that leading
Can you make monsters then just hate ‘em?

    Pretending I’m in outerspace
So I don’t have to see your face
Those leering eyes still look at me
I want back what you took from me

    Pretending I’m in outerspace
So I don’t have to see your face
Those leering eyes still look at me
I’ve lost all hope you’ll set me free

    Floatingly Flowingly by Melodie Yvonne

    I float

    I float in a bubble
I float in a bubble in between love
    I don’t need love

    I want

    Itching all over
    My thoughts randomly flop
    I don’t NEED

    I WANT

    Inhale
    Inhale. Exhale.

    I don’t want
I don’t want to need to breathe
    I don’t want to need
    I don’t want
    I NEED

    NEED you

    Inhale
    Inhale. Exhale.

    I float
    I float out
I float out of the bubble between need and want

    I don’t need love

    I want

  • Safe From The Rain

Originally published online Dec 23, 2017 & in the collection Photographic Memories: Deux Mille Dix-Sept — available here
“Resurrection” can also be found in the collection psalms 2000:17-24 available on Amazon here

I am nothing but this wicked thing that tries to slink to freedom
I’m nothing but this evil thing that cast us out of Eden
But at some point there has to be a shared hand in the blame
‘Cause you might’ve not ask the world to flood, but you asked for the rain

I’m maybe not the perfect girl I know most my time’s wasted
I sure don’t have too much regret except that fruit I tasted
But at least I ask forgiveness and I know I caused my pain
See I might’ve not asked my world to flood, but I asked for the rain

I hope you hear these words I say and let them fill your soul
I hope you feel this love I give and let it make you whole
See sometimes right don’t matter and there’s no sense pointin’ blame
And you can’t just ask the world to flood to take away your pain

No, you can’t just ask the world to flood to take away your pain

Sometimes life gets the best of you, it’s hard to go on livin’
Sometimes it’s hard to see it through, and you get tired of givin’
But know you’re not alone here we’ve got shared hands in the blame, baby
And maybe someday the world will flood, but we’re safe from the rain

Oh yeah this here ugly world might flood but you’re safe from the rain, baby

Yeah one day this here world might flood, but we’re safe from the rain
