Words from a gonzoesque life in an oh so gonzoless world

Curvy Line

Originally published online Dec 8, 2016 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: The Neverending Sequel — available here

Your silence speaks volumes, much louder than words
In fact it’s the loudest noise I’ve ever heard
I’m just a curve and I want your line near me
but all you can do is stand straight and steer me

You say you want more but not more of me
You want what I got but not what I need
Still just a low life I take what I get
A truck stop lot lizard you pay just to sit

Can’t see outside but you won’t let me in
Comin’ unraveled from being your friend
Sit close in space, but our souls never bend
Cruel asymptotic fate taunts ‘til the end

You talk of our fate and how it is written
You talk so damn good my whole body is smitten
But when I choose words you don’t wanna hear
Your soul scoots on back and my fears reach up near

What if I said too much, what if I’m ugly?!?
What if I just don’t deserve you to love me?
What if you leave me, but what if you stay?
I am you, you are me, we run away

Can’t see outside but you won’t let me in
Comin’ unraveled from being your friend
Sit close in space, but our souls never bend
Cruel asymptotic fate taunts ‘til the end

We’re fools
Star-crossed lovers fate haunts ‘til our end
