  • What the Hell

Originally published online Jan 24, 2017 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: Deux Mille Dix-Sept — available here

What the hell do I do when I know there’s nobody else like you?
What the hell do I say when I want you to leave, but I want you to stay?

I know there’s nobody else like you
    That’s why I left, why couldn’t you?
When things don’t work you just don’t stay
‘cause all our ends begin to fray

What the hell do I do when I know there’s nobody else like you?
What the hell do I say when I want you to leave, but I want you to stay?

There’s no way you’d know what you have asked
    Foolishly I’m took to task
I still don’t know just what to say
But I’m really good at running away

What the hell do I do when I know there’s nobody else like you?
What the hell do I say when you broke all the toys and I don’t wanna play?

I was always the crazy one
You were bright just like the sun
But now I fear that you are near
And who will get us out of here?

What the hell do I do when I know there’s nobody else like you?
What the hell do I say when I want you to leave, but I want you to stay?
What the hell do I do when I know there’s nobody else like you?
What the hell do I say when I just want you to go away?

  • 80 Grams

Originally published online Jan 17, 2017 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: Deux Mille Dix-Sept — available here

    Exhausted emotions swinging so freely
Strayed wishes for someone somewhere to see me
I’m getting so tired and wishin’ for solace
This sure as hell ain’t what our parents taught us

Thought I’d be somethin’ or at least I’d be free
but I’m guessin’ what really ain’t meant to be
Tryin’ to be pure and find hope to hold onto
but gettin’ so tired wearin’ cement filled shit boots

Love me or leave me I’m all that I am
I’m an old broken record you pressed 80 grams
Love me or leave me I’m all that I am
and you’re not gonna change me so why give a damn

Lost in my mind’s twisted carnival soup
I’m stuck feelin’ caged all ensnared in a loupe
Thousands of eyeballs are focused down on me
from judgmental faces so wretched and beastly

Digital silhouettes rise with their glow
and they try to attack my frail analog soul
Then a smile on your lips brings me quite a surprise
but I’m over and done with your pixel filled eyes

Love me or leave me I’m all that I am
I’m an old broken record you pressed 80 grams
Love me or leave me I’m all that I am
No matter your patch my whole melody’s damned

Love me or leave me I’m all that I am
Still that old broken record you pressed 80 grams
Love me or leave me I’m all that I am
and you’re not gonna change me so why give a damn

  • Broken

Originally published online Jan 11, 2017 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: Deux Mille Dix-Sept — available here

I’m so fucking broken that I can’t even breathe
This constant bullshit pressure has got me on my knees
I only need one person to keep their fucking word
but a giant bullshit symphony is all I’ve ever heard

I’m so fucking broken I can’t even breathe
I’m sittin’ at a stoplight wondering why I just can’t leave
I don’t know why I’m cryin’ or why the fuck I’m sad
and I don’t even remember how to go from sad to mad

I’m so fucking broken I can’t even breathe
I wish that I could fix it, but I don’t know what I need
so I’m guessin’ every time those tears pour out my eyes
I’m gonna turn them ‘round and try to make more pretty rhymes

I’m so fucking broken I can’t even breathe
but these lyrics give me oxygen with just a breath of me
These rhythms keep me grounded and give me what I need
so that I can last here one more day pretending that I’m free

    I’m so fucking broken I can’t breathe.

  • Lazy Cyanide

Originally published online Jan 10, 2017 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: Deux Mille Dix-Sept — available here

    Feelin’ like I’m empty
    Like I’m dyin’ deep inside
    Comfortably untouchable
    in numbness where I hide
    Feelin’ like I’m drowning
and my heads a lead balloon
My scuba mask’s a plastic bag
    and I’ll be sinking soon
    Feelin’ like I’m over this
I just want off this ride
It wasn’t supposed to be like this
    The fairy tales all lied
    Feelin’ like it’s gotta end
    or else I’m gonna break
This time it’s me who’s shuttin’ off
I’ve had all I can take
    Feelin’ like I’m empty
and I’m dead now deep inside
    Comfortably untouchable
    like lazy cyanide
    Comfortably untouchable
    like lazy cyanide
    Comfortably untouchable
I’ll be here ‘til you die

  • Hocus Pocus

Originally published online Jan 7, 2017 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: Deux Mille Dix-Sept — available here

Torn between what I got left
and what I got to lose
Racks my mind and twists my soul
    It’s givin’ me the blues

I wanna know just what to do
    and surely it’ll hit me
    Lookin at you seein’ me
it makes me think you get me

    Hocus pocus
    You’re the dopest
Let’s go have a good time
    Leave the lonelies
    and the phonies
I’ll make your days night times

All I ask is you stand up
It’s time to pick a side
Front or back they’ll be no flack
just join me for a ride

    Hocus pocus
    You’re the dopest
Let’s go have a good time
    Leave the lonelies
    and the phonies
I’ll make your days night times

    Oh Hocus Pocus
    You’re the dopest
    Days forever night times
    Hocus Pocus
    You’re the dopest
    I’m your fucking sunshine

  • My Love Melody

Originally published online Jan 4, 2017 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: Deux Mille Dix-Sept — available here
This piece can also be found in the Poetry Collaboration Sin & Skin available on Amazon here

    I don’t know that I love you
but I do know that it’s true
that I wanna get all dirty like an animal with you

    I don’t know if I feel you
    or our souls are intertwined
but I want to cross your primal natured need to fuck with mine

    I don’t know if I’d date you
    I’m not your breeding stock
but I know I wanna high-five my vagina to your cock

    I don’t know that I love you
but I do know that its true
that I wanna get all dirty like an animal with you

    Don’t wanna owe you answers
every time you freak and call
I just wanna be a bed post notch and pinned against your wall

    Don’t wanna meet your momma
or shake some hands with dad
unless it’s just some foreplay ‘til we fuck inside their pad

Don’t wanna say I love you
Hopin’ you don’t feel it too
‘Cause right now all I wanna do is make it here with you

Yeah, right now I just wanna make it everywhere with you
Oh right now I just wanna make it everywhere with you

  • The Harmony of Symmetry

Originally published online Jan 3, 2017 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: Deux Mille Dix-Sept — available here

The harmony of symmetry alleviates anxiety
unlike the crooked pictures that need straightened
and here I sit without you drooping low and all askew
like a worthless piece of trash that you’ve degraded

I don’t know how to turn around your eyes so they will see
this perfect mirror image that is here for you in me
but know that I am with you in your heart where I will stay
until the day my heart has died and turns your soul away

I wanna know just what to do and how to make you see me too
but love is blind and blindingly it binds you
You shined a light into my dark and gave me just a little spark
that undid all the certainties that I knew

Now my mind is full of mazes bouncing round inside its cages
Walled reflections make my eyes see you in echoes
    Beautiful reverberations making musical creations
matches my heart with your ever-changing tempos

I don’t know how to turn around your eyes so they will see
this perfect mirror image that is here for you inside me
but know that I am with you in your heart where I will stay
until the day your heart has died and turns my soul away

  • The Dream Breakers

Originally published online Dec 30, 2016 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: The Neverending Sequel — available here

We are the dream makers fighting the dream breakers
    Hordes of depressed silent masses
They seek out the others destroying their brothers
Content to be lowly and fascist

We’re fighting good people and sometimes our equals
We’ll stand up to those who would harm us
We’ll trust not a soul, nihilism’s our goal
and we’ll fend off all those that would charm us

We’ll safe guard our heart right from the start
and pretend what they say doesn’t matter
We’ll hide them away, let our feelings decay
‘til our minds are as mad as a hatter

We’ll sit in the dark all alone with no spark
‘cause they might steal our light if we flash it
and then we’ll blend in ‘cause it isn’t a sin
to come out in the world if we match them

  • Dreaming in Reverse

Originally published online Dec 30, 2016 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: The Neverending Sequel — available here

Every time I’m dreaming my dream I’m back on that bus to Detroit
With every tear drop that falls away goes a little bit more of that noise
The rain turns to sleet, though, and freezing rain puts a nice sheet of ice round my heart
And this soul grows weary I think it quite clearly can no longer get a cold start

The roar of those tires found pavement on down
These muffled old headphones don’t drown out the sound
All of those things you said on that day saved my revenant soul
    What a lie you became

Every time you knew I’d be there, and all of that time I guess you didn’t care
You knew I loved blind and loved unaware, and now it’s your soul that’s the cross that I bare

The roar of those tires found pavement on down
These muffled old headphones don’t drown out your sound
All of those things that you said on that day gave me unabashed hope
    What a lie you became

The patience I lack is the patience for fate, I’m foolishly locked in a warp speed like wait
I feel like I’m tip toeing right off this globe, I spin outta control and just hope I’m not thrown

‘Cause the roar of the tires found pavement on down
My muffled old headphones don’t drown out the sounds
All of those things you said on that day saved my revenant soul
    What a lie you became

All of those things you said on that day put a noose round my throat
    What a lie you became

  • Bean Salad

Originally published online Dec 28, 2016 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: The Neverending Sequel — available here

A hydro strung necklace and vicodin leash
makes him follow me quiet like a good lil leech
He follows his momma, still suckles her teets
He’s just sweet as puddin’ as long as he feeds

He’ll open my doors and hug me so tight
then go through my purse like a thief in the night
but junkies don’t care if it’s dark or it’s light
He’ll snatch all my shit and then argue his rights

Storms are a’ brewin’ and he best be a’ runnin’
It all wraps around and his bad deeds are comin’

Hidin’ by charms and a smile that melts ice
My Jose gets warm, his heart chills it quite nice
Knowing he’s wrong he’ll convince me he’s right
and then all again he’s couch bound for the night

Lock up the pills and lock up your wife
That sting in our backs is the blade of his knife
He’ll make me pity his make-believe strife
He sucks me right in and then he steals my life

Storms are a’ brewin’ and he best be a’ runnin’
’cause it all wraps ’round and his demons are comin’
If I get lucky I’ll see where he stands
and gets sucked right to hell for his crimes against man

War’s are a’ brewin and he best be a’ runnin’
’cause it all wraps around and he knows they’re a’ comin’
They’ll weigh his scales and they’ll look in his eyes
and then they’ll save my soul with a snuff of his life
