Words from a gonzoesque life in an oh so gonzoless world

Forget Me Not

This piece will be in the upcoming collection Photographic Memories: Nein available here soon

Forget Me Not

I have sand in the cracks of my brain today
It’s gritty and grinding and drives me insane
and I just don’t know what I’m gonna do
If I vacuum my brain, will it get rid of you?

I wanna erase all the hurt and the heartache
I wanna delete all the trauma and bad days
but if I use bleach and some alcohol too
will it make me forget all the good parts of you?

I want to be happy and stop all this madness
break up all this infinite abyss of sadness
scrub my mind’s windows till I can see through
but if I clean it up… Will it scrub away you?

Will pictures of your smile fade away like the sunset?
Our tethering thread lose all its elastic?
If I sweep away all the dust old and new…
Will my soul remember that it’s sewn to you?

I need divine guidance and maybe some luck
before my brain boils and it starts to erupt
but if losing everything means losing you…
Should I give up my hope for a chance at the moon?

The sand in the cracks of my brain is insane
It’s gritty and grinding, eroding away
but I just don’t know what I’m gonna do…
Should I let it all go… Should I let go of you?
