Rich In My Heart by Melodie Yvonne

No one says I wanna be poor
Everyone says I want a bit more
But oh to be rich just in my heart
Would be such a beautiful, brilliant start

Nobody says I wanna be poor
And soon we forget what money’s for
It takes us as captive and draws us near
We become so dependent that we start to fear

We forget that it’s paper & it’s not our own
We forget it won’t substitute heart and soul
We get lost in pursuit ‘til we don’t know we’re crazy
And plated in gold we’re crying out, “Save me!”

No one says I wanna be poor
Everyone says I want a bit more
We’re blinded by greed tryin’ to settle the score
And now we’re here callin’ that money Lord

No one says I wanna be poor
Everyone says I want a bit more
But oh if we’re not rich in our hearts
Our every desire will tear us apart

No one says I wanna be poor
Everyone says I want a bit more
But oh to be rich just in my heart
Would be such a beautiful, brilliant start
