Everybody’s Got the Right to Not Drop the Mic by Melodie Yvonne
Written with love for Iconoclast Open Mic Poetry at the Irving Theater ❤ ❤ ❤
A huge thanks to Devon Ginn for humoring and helping me with my first performance piece 🙂
Every single creature in this great big world
Comes in many different shapes and sizes
But there is one thing that is running deep throughout each single one
And that is they all share confusion ‘bout the mic stand
Just turned it one direction and if it doesn’t go
Turn it in the other ‘til it loosens
And then just slide it up or maybe slide it down
Then turn it right on back until it tightens
Now don’t you be embarrassed if you gotta ask for help
‘Cause each and every one of us human
And no matter short or tall or even giant Fezzik sized
Everybody has the right to use the mic stand
Again just turned it one direction and if it doesn’t go
Turn it in the other ‘til it loosens
And then just slide it up or maybe slide it down
Then turn it right on back until it tightens
One more time!
Just turned it one direction and if it doesn’t go
Turn it in the other ‘til it loosens
And then just slide it up or maybe slide it down
And then turn it right on back until it tightens
