Words from a gonzoesque life in an oh so gonzoless world

Lazy Cyanide

Originally published online Jan 10, 2017 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: Deux Mille Dix-Sept — available here

Feelin’ like I’m empty
Like I’m dyin’ deep inside
Comfortably untouchable
in numbness where I hide
Feelin’ like I’m drowning
and my heads a lead balloon
My scuba mask’s a plastic bag
and I’ll be sinking soon
Feelin’ like I’m over this
I just want off this ride
It wasn’t supposed to be like this
The fairy tales all lied
Feelin’ like it’s gotta end
or else I’m gonna break
This time it’s me who’s shuttin’ off
I’ve had all I can take
Feelin’ like I’m empty
and I’m dead now deep inside
Comfortably untouchable
like lazy cyanide
Comfortably untouchable
like lazy cyanide
Comfortably untouchable
I’ll be here ‘til you die
