Words from a gonzoesque life in an oh so gonzoless world

My Girl Punkin

Originally published online Nov 19, 2016 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: The Neverending Sequel — available here

My heart is still aching without your fur face
My smile is a frown without your fur embrace

How will I ever be happy again
without my girl Punkin she was my best friend

I miss those wet kisses and head on my knee
to tell me to pause life and set my child free

I miss all your snoring and your silly faces
I miss how your tail wagged when we’d go places

Oh how will I ever be happy again
without my dear Punkin she was my best friend

It’s getting cold now soon snow on the ground
It’ll be even harder without you around

I don’t know how well I’ll survive this cold winter
‘Cause when I got sad I’d snuggle up with her

How will I ever be happy again
without my girl Punkin she was my best friend

So suddenly everything’s all in upheaval
I’m prayin’ and prayin’ that this all will end well

But without my Punkin it just as well end
‘Cause my Punkin is gone and she was my best friend

Oh how will I ever be happy again
without my girl Punkin she was my best friend

Oh how will, how will I ever again
be without Punkin she was my best friend
