Words from a gonzoesque life in an oh so gonzoless world

Jeffrey’s Pipe Dream

Originally published online Nov 5, 2016 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: The Neverending Sequel — available here

This is fucking real, and this is fucking happening
These our lives that matter, and it’s time we stood for something
Underpaid to fight the good fight, trying to make a difference
Let go your thoughts, look in my eyes, lay back, and take a listen

Looking at Dakota’s pipeline
It’s a pipe dream, but it’s night-time
Looking at it from a wrong mind
Sacrilegious dogs feed primetime

Politics and corporate greed
quickly get us nowhere free
Blindly dig themselves up something
Eat our souls just like The Nothing

This is fucking real, and this is fucking happening
These our lives that matter, and it’s time we stood for something
Underpaid to fight the good fight, trying to make a difference
Let go your thoughts, look in my eyes, lay back, and take a listen

Government blind to the natives
Squawking pigs don’t represent us
Taking land with brute armed forces
Tyranny empire enforcers

Hollywood paid to be faithful
My words may not be so graceful
But I’ll make one kind of difference
With my free speech groove deliverance

This is fucking real, and this is fucking happening
These our lives that matter, and it’s time we stood for something
Underpaid to fight the good fight, trying to make a difference
Use my grooves to save what’s right, and wipe away the ignorance
