Words from a gonzoesque life in an oh so gonzoless world

Tension Climbs Like Rain

Originally published online June 17, 2016 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: The Neverending Sequel — available here

Tension climbs my shoulder blades
especially when it rains

Descending makes me quite insane
and my attention fades

My neck is tight and shooting flames
up my spine into my brain

Behind my eyes I feel the pain
They’d shoot a horse if it’s this lame

My verbiage just increases things
my hollow skull reverberates

It eats my teeth and half my face
and everyone smells outta place

Then at an obscene quickened pace
I’m all consumed and all deranged

My body’s just a ball of waste
and disdain laces my soul’s taste

I close my eyes and hibernate
like writhing worms rejuvenate
