Words from a gonzoesque life in an oh so gonzoless world

The Sorry Girl

Originally published online May 4, 2016 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: The Neverending Sequel — available here

The sorry girl’s sorry even when she’s silent
The sorry girl doesn’t say goodbye
The sorry girl knows everything’s her fault
When they look her in the eyes and lie

She sits in the dark and cries, and hides those tear stains to go outside
She sits in my mind and cries, and keeps my feelings buried on the inside

This wary girl’s tired, but she keeps a-movin’
This worried girl’s locked inside her brain
This weird girl’s hidin’, but she keeps a-lurkin’
Tryin’ to hide the fact that she’s insane

She sits in the dark and cries, and hides those bruises to go outside
She sits in my mind and cries, a tangled up straight jacket deep inside

This broken girl duct tapes shit together
This lonely girl’s photographs are her only friends
This empty girl can’t fill her head with silence
I’ll miss my quiet rapture when the silence ends

Rudeness
