The Ceiling by Melodie Yvonne
You break my fucking heart and then chastise for having feelings
You slice my soul wide open then you yelled at me for bleeding
But still somehow I miss you and my body aches for leaving
And all I can do is cry now and just stare up at the ceiling
My knees are breaking from all of the time that I spent kneeling
The part of me I gave I didn’t know that you were stealing
But every single tear I’ve cried would all be worth repeating
If I thought for just one second it’d help you with your healing
But every single second was a second you were leading
Collecting all of me wasn’t enough, you got so greedy
You got me all addicted, but then turned and called me needy
Screamed at me you needed air and then you guilted me for breathing
You told me you need space, but won’t give me the space I’m needing
I thought I was in love with you, but love is so deceiving
I tried to douse our dumpster fire, but you just gasoline it
So all I can do is cry now and just stare up at the ceiling
