Understated by Melodie Yvonne

My frustration here is understated
But I’m so tired of being berated
I just want that piece of pie
That got everyone else here high

I’m sick of being not quite real
It’s not fair I don’t get to feel
I’m sick of having to just take
All the while just tryin’ to make it

I’m tired of having to turn a cheek
Stop treating me like I am weak
It’s every ounce of strength I got
To not turn into what I’m not

It’s every little bit of soul
To keep from losing all control
It’s every ounce of energy
To keep me from destroying me

So please stop jumping on this wagon
To kick me off when I’m still draggin’
Please stop disrespecting me
Before I can’t just turn a cheek

Understand that I’m still real
Even if I’m not ideal
Understand that I am human
And you hurt with what you’re doin’

My frustration’s understated
Please don’t take your chance to weigh in
Please just go and let me be
I don’t need help destroying me.
