Words from a gonzoesque life in an oh so gonzoless world

I Don’t Wanna Go

Originally published online Oct 16, 2016 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: The Neverending Sequel — available here

I don’t wanna go inside today
I wanna stay in the sun and play
I’m done with all these skeevy people
Using me so they will reap well

Helping me but only half-assed
Passive fiends all seem so harmless
So I’m gonna stay outside
No one says I go says I

I don’t wanna go outside today
I don’t wanna go in the sun’s harsh rays
Burning through me like a hot knife
Ending me through my blue eye’s life

Leaving me out all exposed
He’s gonna see my ducks unrowed
I feel like I should run and hide now
His eyes see inside me somehow

I don’t wanna live my life today
My insides toxic, stay away
I’m done with all these secret glances
Puking vibes and making messes

Showing me for who I am
Just a frightened slaughtered lamb
Slipping on a fine wolf coat
‘Cause right on back inside I go

I don’t wanna go inside today
I don’t wanna go outside today
I don’t wanna live my life today
I don’t wanna go inside today
