Words from a gonzoesque life in an oh so gonzoless world

My Bipolar Heart

Originally published online Sept 7, 2016 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: The Neverending Sequel — available here

The cuts on me might be deeper than you
Rape, murder, poverty’s things you get through
He tore me apart with a cannibal’s tooth
I bleed from my heart, and I’m on the move

My soul’s on my sleeve, my brain is a-hidin’
It’s too late for me, veins are weak and I’m dried up
All I got left are these lips that are tied up
‘Cause this flabby skin’s got nothin’ inside it

Is there someone out there that feels this way too?
My bipolar heart is done bein’ abused

Shame on me now ‘cause there’s no shame on you
Fuck right on off I got nothin’ to prove
I never cared anyway, it was a ruse
I let you use me ‘cause I like gettin’ used

I’m takin’ my heart and I’m walkin’ away
The cards can piss off, I don’t wanna play
Hear me right now these last words that I’ll say
Welcome to my world, your ass better pray

Is there someone out there that feels this way too?
My bipolar heart is done bein’ used
