Words from a gonzoesque life in an oh so gonzoless world

Cleithrophobia

Originally published online July 27, 2016 & in the print collection Photographic Memories: The Neverending Sequel — available here

All I can hear in my head
Are the words that great Shannon once said
and I can feel all of that fear
“Get me outta here” inside my ear.

I don’t know what I’m gonna do
If I’m stuck in this underground room
and I’ll make my mind comfortably numb
‘Til it dies and I get to be done.
